MEET Dr. PORTER
After completing his residency in orthopedic surgery at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Andrew Porter was accepted into a rigorous, year-long fellowship program in trauma and complex adult reconstruction at the New Jersey Medical Center.
After completing the program, Dr. Porter joined the orthopedic team at Sturdy Health in Attleboro, MA in 2023. Within two years, he was appointed Chief of Orthopedics Surgery and Sports Medicine. He specializes in adult hip and knee replacement, robotic joint replacement, revision joint replacement, and orthopedic trauma. Dr. Porter is skilled in the use of the Mako SmartRobotics system, an advanced robotic-arm assisted surgical platform developed by Stryker that is used for total knee, partial knee, and total hip replacements. It improves surgical accuracy by using 3D CT-based planning and haptic technology, allowing surgeons to create personalized plans and execute precise bone cuts, which can lead to reduced pain, faster recovery, and improved implant longevity.

I am a very big proponent of shared decision making. There are multiple ways to approach any issue, and I feel it is my responsibility to lay these options out to the patient, discuss the pros and cons of each, and together decide upon the best course of treatment.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Porter has been active as a researcher and as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Orthopedic Trauma Association International. He has also actively worked on designs and reviewed the work of the Temple University Engineering Department, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the Harvard Medical School, and the Boston University School of Medicine Research Lab. Dr. Porter has been board-certified as an orthopedic surgeon by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
